Rye grain response to nitrogen fertilizer and seeding rate

چکیده

Abstract Cereal rye ( Secale cereale L.) seed production is of increasing value in the United States, yet basic agronomic management practices specific to grain have not been established. Field research trials were conducted near Tifton and Midville, GA, during winter crop season 2017–2018 assess effects seeding rate spring‐applied N fertilizer on production. (cultivar ‘Wrens Abruzzi’) was planted at four rates (215, 323, 431, 538 m −2 ) top‐dressed with spring (0, 34, 67, 101 kg ha −1 a randomized complete block design replications. At both sites, yield responses added best described by linear‐plateau regression models. The response greater (following corn [ Zea mays L.]) than Midville peanuts Arachis hypogaea L.]), plateaued 44 67 , respectively. Lodging increased 31% addition also quadratically rate, which presumably contributed reductions higher (431 across sites. This work demonstrates potential optimize substantially lower inputs those recommended for other end uses (i.e., forage or cover crop) cereal species.

Response of Marigold Flower Yield and Yield Components to Water Deficit Stress and Nitrogen Fertilizer

In order to study the effect of water deficit stress and different nitrogen levels on flower yield, yield components and water use efficiency of Calendula officinalis L., an experiment was conducted as split plot based on randomized complete block design with three replications, at research field of Islamic Azad University, Birjand branch in 2009. In this experiment, irrigation treatments (irri...

Response of Emmer and Durum Wheats to Different Levels of Nitrogen Fertilizer

Emmer tetraploid hulled wheats are considered as the ancestor of modern wheat and have considerable potential for durum wheat improvement, especially in terms of grain protein content. To investigate the response of emmer and durum wheats to different levels of nitrogen fertilizer, eight durum and four emmer genotypes were evaluated in the field during 2017 cropping season. The experiment was c...

Maize (Zea mays L.) Response to Nitrogen Fertilizer under Drought Stress at Vegetative and Reproductive Stages

In the sub-tropics, water and nitrogen are the most important factors limiting the grain yield of maize. The effect of nitrogen (N) rates and drought stress at different growth stages of maize were investigated. Nitrogen treatments consisted of 100, 150, and 200  kgN.ha-1 from the urea source while water stress treatments were composed of irrigation-off since the early 10-leaf stage to emergenc...

Regional Approach to Making Nitrogen Fertilizer Rate Decisions for Corn

Nitrogen fertilizer is one of the largest input costs for growing corn. Across the Corn Belt, N is typically the most yield-limiting nutrient. Facing record high N fertilizer prices and potential supply problems, producers are concerned about N fertilization rates. Soil fertility researchers and extension specialists from seven states across the Corn Belt (see list in acknowledgements section) ...

Nitrogen Response Index as a Guide to Fertilizer Management

The efficiency with which fertilizer-nitrogen (N) is transferred to grain-N in cereals is usually less than 50% and averages 33% worldwide. Two long-term N fertility experiments were evaluated to examine temporal changes in nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) and their causes. Averaged over 30-yr, non-irrigated winter wheat NUE was 49% at a 22.4 kg N ha 1 yr 1 rate and decreased to 34% at a rate of 1...
